Updates From Our Family

This is a lighthearted post to share a few family updates (but mostly to share the gorgeous family photos we recently had done).

A huge thanks to Dana Stevens Photography for capturing these very special photos of our family at a very special time in our lives.

Our boys are 1 and (almost) 3. It’s hard to believe most days that I am a mom of two perfect little boys, but I am so grateful. This past year was challenging for sure, we saw another military deployment, we built a home and moved into it, I continued to work full-time from home while the boys were also home with me (with my sister, our nanny for 8 amazing months), and I endured some frustrating health issues.

I told Adam this week that I feel like I’m finally coming up for air.

It was heartbreaking sending the kiddos to school (daycare), because in truth, I love a loud, chaotic and full home. The reality was that I couldn’t have that day in and day out and keep my current job and pace of work. It was a hard decision but when the boys were both officially in school together last week I have to admit I felt a huge weight off my chest.

We have traveled a little bit this year, but more on the horizon and we are really looking forward to that.

Our travel has been limited to North Carolina – it was just easier to do little local weekend getaways with the boys at this age. We attempted a trip to Black Mountain but all got COVID our first day there… we took a redemption trip to Surf City, then to Wrightsville Beach, then a weekend trip to Lake Norman, and this weekend we are heading back up to North Topsail to stay at a stunning property and have some R&R.

Adam and I left the kids for the first time ever for a 2-day trip to Washington D.C. for a wedding and honestly, it was so nice to get away just the two of us for a couple of days.

This month we will celebrate Asher’s 3rd birthday at our home with friends and family, Adam will travel for work and so will I, and we will celebrate Halloween as family of dinosaurs, of course.

I hope your Fall is turning out to be lovely and peaceful wherever you are.
