Most Used Baby Products: Months 6-9

The third in the four-part series: I have decided to do a post for each 3 month growth period until Asher turns 1 year old (in October, 2022)! Babies go through so many changes in this first year, and with that the products that we used most continued to change! Hopefully this helps you navigate this phase of rapid development.

Introduction to Eating Solids

At the 6-month mark we started introducing solids to Asher with the baby led weaning method. Truthfully, it went better than I could have expected and now that he is almost 11 months old, I can say that it worked for our family. Asher eats just about anything, navigates different textures really well, and is effectively learning to use utensils.

Due to the different settings in which Ash eats, we have a variety of seats for him, all of which have been useful at different stages during this period. Below is a round-up of what worked for us.

Bumbo Multi-Seat

The Bumbo multi-seat worked best for us from months 6-8. BLW is messy and it helped me to be able to keep his seat attached to the kitchen counter (next to the sink), or outside. We used the Bumbo for every meal during this time, until he ultimately outgrew it around month 8. We also packed the Bumbo with us for roadtrips so we didn’t have to worry about seating at our various accommodations (he was too small for a regular high-chair at this time. The negative: I didn’t find the Bumbo easy to clean, because water gets trapped everywhere and mold was a huge concern for me.

Lalo High Chair

Once Ash outgrew the Bumbo, we switched to the Lalo. Very cute and modern chair with lots of room for baby to grow. It is lightweight, easy to clean and comfortable for Ash. We still use this for every meal at home and love it. We used the padded insert for about a month but it was a pain to keep clean and he ultimately didn’t need it.

Inglesina Fast Table Chair

MUST HAVE in my opinion. This chair packs up pretty small and we always keep it in the car. We use it at restaurants, the park/picnic benches, and even took it on a recent international trip. First of all, Ash was too small for regular restaurant high-chairs for awhile, so this was NECESSARY, but even now where he fits in a highchair comfortably, this is so nice to have because I know it is CLEAN and COMFORTABLE. It also comes with a tray that clips on, we have used it intermittently but I wouldn’t say you need it.

BABY LED WEANING ACCESSORIES

There were a few great products we used consistently with Ash while introducing solids, listed below:

STROLLERS

Oh, the collection of baby products we have accumulated around here. I wouldn’t recommend each of these things if they didn’t get sufficient use from our family, just so you know. We currently have 3 strollers that each serve a different purpose. I am not saying you NEED all three, but we have enjoyed all three for different reasons and plan to use them for baby number two as well. In an earlier post I talked about our Orbit car eat / stroller which we continue to use now – below I will talk about our BOB jogging stroller and in a future post will talk about our DOONA (because we didn’t use it until later).

BOB Gear Alterrain Pro Jogging Stroller

Our dream running stroller was gifted to us by my parents, and while we didn’t use it until Ash was 6 months, this sucker gets near-daily use nowadays! We started walking with the BOB around 6 months and running around 8 months (we wanted to be sure he was safe in there and had enough neck strength and stability). The ride is SMOOTH, there is lots of built in storage space (which is huge, because I feel like most strollers these days you have to buy all the add-on’s that give you storage space and it gets expensive. Running with this stroller is a breeze and Ash loves it because he can really see everything! We took it to the zoo with us, around town to eat/shop, walking the dogs, and are about to do our first family 5k with it! It is expensive, but 100% worth it in my opinion.

BATH

SKIP HOP 3-STAGE BATH TUB

I shared this bath tub in the 3-6 months post, but am sharing it again because it is 3-stage, so we continued to use it through months 6-9. Recently Ash outgrew it entirely and he just hangs in our adult bath tub, but we used this sucker for a LONG time and have saved it for baby number two.

NEW TOYS

While Ash still played with a lot of his 0-6 month toys at this stage, we got him a few new things that became quite popular. We started to focus on things that would provide a response – musical instruments, sorting toys, and more!

PRODUCTS WE CONTINUE TO USE AND LOVE

I tried to showcase some new products, but truthfully we still use a LOT of the same products I have featured before. At 11 months we JUST stopped using our Baby Bjorn mini carrier (upgraded to the bigger one but that was how we carted Ash all over Portugal), we still use our Mushie stacking cups/rings daily, Kyte Baby sleep sacks, Solly Baby sheets, and Hatch sound machine for every sleep session, Ubbi diaper pale and BIBS pacifiers on the daily, etc.
