Hi there, I’m Carissa!
I am a Harvard-based global health expert and world traveler. I am an Army wife, mom, and dog mom. I have been married to my husband Adam for 12 years, and we have two little boys, Asher (3 years old) and Maddox (1 year old) as well as rescue pups, Tucker and Cooper!
It took us years to start a family, and you can read more about our battle with infertility and IVF journey here and here. We openly shared our experiences in hopes of helping others that are struggling with infertility and the journey to parenthood.
Home for us right now is Southern Pines, North Carolina, but we have lived together in Georgia, Hawai’i, Massachusetts, and Virginia (D.C. area). We have traveled all over the world together, with top destinations being the Azores, Morocco, and Portugal.
Our respective careers have also awarded us with the opportunity to travel and spend longer durations of time in the Middle East and East Africa. I am lucky enough to have spend longer stretches in Madagascar, Uganda, and Kenya (and if we want to date back to the study-abroad days of College … Italy).
I care deeply about people, animals, climate change, conservation efforts, and protecting our planet. I hope to use my absolute and downright LOVE for travel and exploring the world, to both connect people with new places, and also provide insight into some of the world’s most impressive non-profit organizations.
