Family Updates, May 2025

Anyone else feel like they have been riding the steepest and fastest rollercoaster ever built this year? First of all, how it is already mid-May? Second, what in the actual crap is happening in this country? My work-life has been completely upturned by this US administration and my heart has been in pieces for everyone in the global health or humanitarian aid space that has had to endure a complete dismantling of our organizations. It has affected me daily on the deepest level, and all I can do is try to keep my head down and work while I still have a job.

Ok – that isn’t the purpose of this post. This post is to give some light family updates, but mostly to serve as an opportunity to share the family photos we had done by the lovely Chelsea Allegra Photography (please go to her website and see her work and book her). We had the most amazing time taking photos with her on the beach in North Topsail last week, and I think everyone should be so lucky to have a family session with her.

A few quick updates on the fam

  • I am still working at Harvard … but if you’ve seen the news at all, you may know that things are increasingly tenuous and unstable so I am holding onto my work for dear life.
  • Adam is busy as ever with work doing all of the cool things his does, and he’s getting ready to head out for awhile, so I’m prepping for a long period of time solo parenting with the dudes.
  • Asher is 3.5 and into gymnastics, lacrosse, swimming and running races. He is the best big brother, with ever-growing patience, a knack for interpreting Maddox’s baby talk, and an ability to understand the responsibility he has as an older sibling unlike I’ve ever seen before in a 3 year old. He is gearing up to switch schools late this summer and I am so excited to see him thrive.
  • Maddox is 21 months old and I can’t believe he will be 2 this summer. Life goes in a flash when you have kids. He is communicating so well now, which has made everyone’s life much easier. He loves to destroy Asher’s Lego builds, or magna-tile castles, or really anything he can get his hands on that Asher created, but he also follows in every footstep of Asher’s. He has really come out of his shell lately, saying hi to strangers passing, initiating a game of peak a boo with friends, and making more attempts at the bike and scooter. I can’t wait to get Maddox into some sports / activities because he is so eager to start.
  • Tucker and Cooper – the dogs are enjoying how quiet and peaceful the house is all day now that the boys are in daycare together, but also enjoying that I am still working from home all day so we have lots of time for walks, snuggles, and snacks. Tucker is 6.5 and Cooper is almost 11 but they both still act like puppies and are enormously patient with the kids.
