A year in Family Photo Shoots

Within a 12-month span we hired four separate photographers to capture important moments in our life.

In February, 2021 we found out we were pregnant after years of trying to start a family. That set off the search for my first photographer, Jasmine at New Wave Photography. I wanted someone who could capture our joy and create our pregnancy announcement, while also being willing to set out on a bit of a nostalgic adventure with us (we lived in Hawai’i for years together). We had a trip to Oahu, Hawai’i planned for May, 2021 which felt like the perfect time to take the photos and share our news beyond the circle of our close friends and family.

In July we traveled to North Carolina for a baby shower my incredible friends threw me. Having lived in North Carolina for years I had my heart set on working with Colette at by Colette Photo. Lucky me she was available and we had a beautiful maternity session (with the dogs)! I was about 27 weeks pregnant at the time.

Asher Wells Novak was born on October 24th, 2021 – so the next set of photos were for his newborn session. I was incredibly late to the game identifying and booking a newborn photographer but Chelsea at Chelsea Lauren Images was incredibly accommodating and still squeezed us into her VERY busy Fall.

Most recently we sought to capture our new little family, and when the weather warmed up in the Spring we headed to Frederick, Maryland where Jen at Jen Tilley Photography captured just how whole our family had become. Ash was about 7 months old in those photos.
