Taking Control During Uncertain Times – Resetting My Body & Mind

I know I’m not the only one feeling this way.

Frustrated. Anxious. Concerned.

Don’t get me wrong, I feel a lot of gratitude for my specific situation, or at least for my situation this past month. I had my husband, and our dogs home with me. I was able to work from home, and Face Time my family and friends.

Where the anxiety starts to set in, is when I think about the future. You see, we are in the process of moving – we sold our home and need to be out at the end of May, and we are supposed to move to Boston in June. However, it is looking like the Army may not let us move for a while, until things calm down. Understandable, of course, but that doesn’t make it much easier. I am also very well aware we are not the only military family in the middle of a PCS – but one thing military families have, is adaptability – we’ve been training for this for a long time.

My husband was recently admitted to Harvard Kennedy School’s Master of Public Administration program (yay, Adam!) and I have accepted a job at Harvard’s Global Health Institute. His program was set to start July 8th, but the summer session has moved online and the Fall session is a bit questionable at the moment. I actually start at Harvard remote in early May, so luckily, my job isn’t in question (at this time).

Essentially, I am homeless at the end of May, and my husband’s job and schooling is a bit uncertain right now, as the Army decides if they want to let us move during this pandemic.

Anyway, my story is one among millions right now, and I understand that. That’s why I am here, sharing how I am taking back control over what I can.

I have decided to relinquish the stress and anxiety, and hone in on what I can control – my body, my health, and my nutrition.

Prolon 5-Day Fast-Mimicking Diet

How better to kickstart a new health journey than with a literal reset? I chose the 5-day fast-mimicking diet from Prolon – an intervention designed after over 20 years of preclinical and clinical studies, sponsored by the NIH (National Institutes of Health) and conducted at the Longevity Institute at the University of Southern California.

This is tried and true, and while this is my first time doing it, it has come recommended by many! I first learned about it on Netflix, actually – on The Goop Lab (if you haven’t watched it, you should, highly entertaining).

During the 5 days, moderate exercise is allowed – for me, that will include yoga every day with my favorite instructors LIVE at Hot Asana, and long walks with my dogs (see below).

DAY 1 – TODAY

Today, Thursday, April 16th, is DAY 1 of my fast-mimicking diet from Prolon. Once that is complete, I plan to continue to hone in on my nutrition, and completely cut out alcohol for at least 8 weeks. 8 weeks solely focused on improving my energy levels, reducing my headaches and migraines, learning more about solid, long-lasting nutrition, while continuing daily exercise.

I will post again at the end of this 5-day fast-mimicking diet, so I can share my results! I am not looking at this as a 5-day long journey, though! Therefore, I will continue to keep you updated over the next couple of months with my plan, my goals, and my results!

The team at Prolon gave me a great discount code – for $50 off your kit using code ESCAPES50

If you are interested in doing this fast-mimicking cleanse, taking control of your health, and having something more positive to focus on during this trying times, visit the Prolon Website and use code ESCAPE50 for $50 off!
